Christian Lamm_Photographer 1 & 2

 Larry Fink

An American photographer who was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1941. His work is in black and white, and the main thing that drew me to his work is the focused, gritty nature of his photographs. I like comparison style commentary photography, and I also value personal family photographs which is why I included these two works of his.

AmericanSuburbX

His most famous work, Social Graces, contrasts the rich of Manhattan at parties and fancy events, with the working class of Pennsylvania.

Another work of his I enjoy is his Kindred Spirits series. These photos show a farming family in a visceral, raw, and intimate way.

Chloe Meynier is a French-born photographer, based in Los Angeles, CA. Her work mostly deals with women's roles, societal norms, equality, and gender identity.

Although I do of course value these things, it was just simply her beautiful, dreamlike compositions from her Wait Until Dark series that caught my eye at first. Looking more deeply into this work, I can start to understand some of the things she is portraying.

More direct examples of her values can be found in works like Made in the Shade or Gendernormativity

 Rafael Rozendaal

a Dutch-Brazilian artist that uses the internet as his canvas. Many of his works use websites to be seen such as fearofchoice.com which I can only assume is based off the algorithmic systems used in a lot of social media currently.

Nam June Paik creates video art that addressed the latest technology of the year it was created. He was known as the "father of video art". He gained some of his inspiration from composer John Cage (who used everyday objects and sounds to create music). Similarly, Paik used televisions and video cameras. He is most famous for his use of the term "electronic super highway" which many say was foreshadowing for the modern day internet.

Wolf Vostell was a video artist also part of the Fluxus movement in New York. He is known as the "father of the happening". He mainly experimented with single frames he pulled from television and media.

Jack Stauber

Jack Stauber is a multi-media video artist/muscian living is Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Deliberately smashing together all forms of animation with a good smear of MS Paint, Stauber designs nonsensical, heavily layered videos. Often the videos are paired with music he’s written that reflects the same type of absurdism, creating emotional jingles meant to be carried and put on replay.
