“Open Water” by Brendon Tyree is a very short, but sweet
film. The duration of the film is only a minute and a half with no speaking and
only music. I felt like the artist successfully captured the freedom that open
water swimming in Scotland brings to the ones familiar with it. Even from
somebody that has little knowledge on the subject you can get this since of
freedom from the video from the way its shot. The mixture of aerial landscape and
close up shots is what attracts me most to the film along with the music in it.
This film is called “Chad Lawson Waning Moon” directed by
Bernardo Marentes. What attracts me to this video is the way it too is shot
with no words, but music playing over the video which seems to give off a super
calm effect. I enjoy how it’s a compilation of videos to make one and how some
videos are slowed down to dramatize certain moments.
