Alison Miller New Media Artist 7&8

Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck

These two artists run under the studio name Ann Street Studios.  Kevin and Jamie used their talents as photographers and videographers to create successful cinemagraphs for major fashion and advertising companies, showing this art is highly appealing to many viewers.  I came across them when researching artists who create the GIF like work.  It’s a photography, yet a video and I find myself attracted more to the idea of it rather than just video.  This type of work is compelling, and my interest continues to peak in learning techniques of how these are created.

Jason Teale

I couldn’t find much personal information about Jason.  I just happen to come across his work while searching and discovered many artists on the page called Flixel.  He did have his website linked on the page and I was able to explore much of his work, as well as save some of his tutorials for future research.  Focusing on his cinemagraphs, I was attracted again to the combination of photo and video, but what really caught my attention about his work was the usage of lights in many of the cityscapes.  The continuous movements, flickers, and blurs of the lights within the still image makes me reflect on the fast-paced life of being in a city compared to the pace of electricity.  Our movement is frozen compared to the high-speed electricity can move.  An even deeper story can come from thinking about how technology has developed and become so fast compared to physical human capabilities.

I wasn’t able to embed his work as they are protected, but included both links that I found his work on.
