Nam June Paik creates video art that addressed the latest technology of the year it was created. He was known as the "father of video art". He gained some of his inspiration from composer John Cage (who used everyday objects and sounds to create music). Similarly, Paik used televisions and video cameras. He is most famous for his use of the term "electronic super highway" which many say was foreshadowing for the modern day internet.

Wolf Vostell was a video artist also part of the Fluxus movement in New York. He is known as the "father of the happening". He mainly experimented with single frames he pulled from television and media.

A nonbinary video artist living in Los Angeles, California. Raised on YouTube, they research the history, politics, and economics of video on the internet. They currently serve as Executive Director for the Internet Creators Guild, the first-ever labor association built to advance the interests of professional internet content creators. Jack Stauber

Jack Stauber is a multi-media video artist/muscian living is Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Deliberately smashing together all forms of animation with a good smear of MS Paint, Stauber designs nonsensical, heavily layered videos. Often the videos are paired with music he’s written that reflects the same type of absurdism, creating emotional jingles meant to be carried and put on replay.

Raul Zaritsky, Jamie Fenton, and Dick Ainsworth

These three artists created the now classic glitch video "Digital TV Dinner" (1978) that used the Bally video game console system.

The video was made by striking the $300 Bally video game console with a fist or fingers while it is trying to write the menu and recording the results.

Check out the video below. It’s truly a classic piece of Glitch Art.

Michael Betancourt

In Betancourt's hands, data moshing becomes a form of cultural resistance. Instead of utilizing the smooth, illusionistic motion of digital cinema, which you would typically see in a commercial movie theater, he deliberately pulls apart the codes and exploits its errors to deconstruct the movies and show us how they do their tricks. He pulls apart the narrative tropes of Sci-Fi at the same time that he pulls apart the pictures, pixel by pixel, creating a radically open form that resists the hypnotic myth-making of Hollywood

Billy Eichner is a comedian and game show host of billy on the street. During the show, billy would go around New York City and walk up to random people and ask them questions about pop culture. Some episodes would entitle a celebrity guest that would walk around with him asking similar questions. He has a lot of energy and jokes that keep everything interesting while interviewing. I like how he goes to different parts of the city and goes up to random people because they have no idea what the question might be. Compared to me I am also do not telling my subject anything prior to the interview.

Dirty glove bastard is a digital music marketing and management consulting company that does a series of interviews called "off the porch". The series consists of interviews with the popular artist talking about their life and how they got to the point that they are at right now. The reason I like these videos is how it is just the subject in the idea with the interviewer in the background just asking questions. The differnt angles from the different cameras also give a different perspective and possibly a differnt emotion from the interviewer and what they might be talking about.

Nardwuar the human serviette was a previous lead singer and keyboardist for the Canadian group called the evaporators. After He is known for his quickness and high energy His interview style is very different when it comes to asking questions or making a statement. He would know very small facts about his interviews and they would be stunned that he mentioned or asked that question. His interviews are typically in a music setting such as a recording studio, record store, and possibly at a venue like a concert. The reason I like him is because of his high energy and being able to keep the crowd and the interviewer engaged.

Sam Cannon is an artist who lives in NYC. She does photography and video, but some of her work is turned into gifs. She is using gifs of models walking the runways and she uses them to display the clothing they have on.

Aklo is a videographer who also makes gifs. He mainly shoots and directs music videos. Many of the gifs he makes come from the same shoots. I found the gifs he made for brands interesting. Most of the movement he captures looks natural and it looks like the models did not know he was going to make a gif out of it.

I chose to show a clip from "Real Stories". Real Stories is a UK based show made in 2015. I am researching what style I should shoot to do my video on my skin condition. I found medical documentaries that are close to what I want to do. I would like to add some observational film styles as well.

Tyarria Duncan_ Multimedia Artist 7 & 8

The first artist I chose was Geoff Zanelli. He used clay animation to create a love story. Although it may not have been long it was long enough to tell a story on how you can be so in love with a person that you're willing to wait for them because you love them so much.

https://youtu.be/s6OAMFUNKcA

The second artist I chose was Nora Ephron. This video is an exert from"when Harry met Sally." These older couples talk about how they first met and what they thought when they first met. It was beautiful to see how in love these couples were and how much the younger generation should learn from them to be able to keep the love going and long lasting like these ones.

https://youtu.be/lzi2G68CMiE

Tyarria Duncan_ Multimedia Artist 5&6

The first artist I chose was PUUUNG. They focused on the little things in life that deserve to be highlighted on when it comes to a relationship. In relationships some people believe that it is all about the expensive clothes, cars, presents, and etc. But to some all that matters are the simple gestures like going out to eat, cooking dinner, watching a movie, napping together, or even fixing things around the house. The little things matter and keep the bond between the relationship even stronger.

https://youtu.be/xdHx1YEsWwk

The second artist I chose was Annina Roeschesien "What Are You Fishing For?"  she shared melancholy, orchestrated coldness, truth without a mask, the artist  plunges into the heart of the union between a man and a woman In a cinematic narrative, the mental landscape which is the synthesis of the artist's physical and symbolic inner sanctum projects a combination. of two aesthetics. it was interesting how she took nature and the actual people to create a story that may have appeared to make no sense but was a deeper meaning behind how men look for women.

The first artist I chose wasn't necessarily a particular artist but a company called LDSliving. They interviewed several different couples who have been married for decades and asked them for love advice. This was absolutely one of the directions I was going to go for within my project but along with advice interviewing only two subjects and allowing them to talk about each other in each other's presence and out of each others presence also.

The second artist I chose was Carlos Lascano.  He is an Argentina writer and director who specializes in animation and illustration. I chose him because once again it fell under the topic of love with an older generation. He was able to travel through the years with this couple and create a journey of their story separately and together.

The photographer that I choose was Elsa Garrison she is a New York-based sports photographer working with Getty images sport that she joined in 1998. She has been shooting sports photography for over 15+ years and has some of the most amazing shots that I have ever seen. Her pictures have been seen all over the world in things like The New York Times and ESPN The Magazine

The second photographer that I choose was Lynne Cameron she got into photography because of a picture that her great grandfather had where the photographer had photoshopped a picture of his older brother in who had died in the war and that made her fall in love with Photography. The reason she got into sports once again was because of her grandfather who loved sports and she was always around with a camera. I like her style because she focuses more on the portrait side of photography and that's a fresh take on the genre.

I chose to show Fantastic Mr.Fox a movie that uses clay animation photography and stop motion. Wes Anderson is the writer, producer, and director of Fantastic Mr. Fox and it took 7 months to create. It took 7 months to make the Mr.Fox puppet as well. This movie took 56,000 shots. Each actor had a certain dialogue that was recorded in the same elements as their characters in order to make it sound natural. But it took a lot of takes because other outside noises were interfering with the recordings. Another stop motion film Wes Anderson made was Isle Of Dogs

Well known Tim Burton and Mike Johnson together produced "Corpse Bride". The movie was shot in a time frame of 55 weeks and resulted in 109,440 shots. One character had 10-14 puppets made in order to shoot different scenes. One animator had nightmares from always readjusting the puppets faces. Tim Burton got his inspiration from a stop motion creator named "Ray Harryhausen". This movie was only made with still photography cameras consisting of both Nikon and Canon cameras.

Film special effects superstar Ray Harryhausen helped elevate stop motion animation to an art. His innovative and inspiring films, from the 1950s onwards, changed the face of modern movie making forever. This largest and widest-ranging exhibition of Ray Harryhausen’s work ever seen contained newly restored and previously unseen material from his incredible archive.

Ray Harryhausen's work included the films Jason and the Argonauts, the Sinbad films of the 1950s and 1970s, One Million Years B.C. and Mighty Joe Young. He inspired a generation of filmmakers such as Peter Jackson, Aardman Animations, Tim Burton, George Lucas, and Steven Spielberg, and his influence on blockbuster cinema can be felt to this day.

She does also create documentary videos and feature films working with TV shows such as the feature film she made for Swiss Army Man 2016 or the feature film she made for The Trust. I peronally appriciate her claymation the most because I find it inspiring to be able to have the patience to sit down and plan something out, take all the steps that end up actually being simple, and putting it all together to make a smooth flowing video at the end of the day.

James Curran is an LA-based illustrator, animator, and director who has worked on a wide variety of projects including video games, music videos, commercials, and print. He not only makes GIFs for fun but regularly works with big-name brands. I chose him because his work represented an idea I wanted to do with my grandparents as a representation of love and them dancing to music like they always do when I am away at school and not there.

The second artist that I chose was Alena Geyzer who's a digital artist and Instagram blogger. Her work was interesting to me because there were couple gifs  that revealed different layers to a person and felt like it would be cool to try something like that for my project.
