BCM - Artist 9 - Henry Hargreaves

Photographer Henry Hargreaves showed up in my search because of his Ted Talk regarding the food people choose, specifically a series of photos about what preppers would eat after a societal collapse. He has done other work on this same topic, photographing death row inmates' last meal requests, and the food musicians want backstage. I love how he incorporates the story with the subtle elements around each plating. There's a sense that these people are hopeful they won't starve, but the plates of food are largely humble and mostly bleak in my interpretation. There's an interesting one where an Orthodox Jew is stocking up on Kosher stuff, but admits that not everything he stores can be Kosher. If it comes down to it, some things will have to give. As a vegan, I can understand.
