Week 4

Juliana Kasumu



Juliana Kasumu is a photographer of British-Nigerian heritage which Kasumu says plays a huge role in her photography. In the series From Moussor to Tignon, she photographed women while being at an Artist-in-Residence in New Orleans, Louisiana. Kasumu wants to reach out to her women audience trying to further her understanding of culture of the head-tie and the re-appropriation of it through traditional methods. Kasumu tries to break the stereotype of Black women and their bodies.






Lauren Henkin's, What's found is yours to keep, this series of photographs were taken for the The Do Good fund, a non-profit organization that acquires and exhibits photos taken in the American South. Henkin's photos where taken in Greensboro, Alabama which she tried to capture the beauty and history of Southern life.
