Darrin Allen_Blogger Artist 3&4

The first photographer I researched this week was Richard Heathcote. He is a sports photographer for Getty Images. The first thing that caught my eye about this photographer was his website layout and how he separates his sports images based on moments, motion, face, fore, and from above. It is a unique way to layout a website, and it shows the versatility he has with the different ways to capture the many motions, moments, and emotions sports has. One thing we talk about in the sport management program is the importance of playing multiple sports as a youth as it will help the player become a better athlete in the long run. I apply that same lesson to sports photography, and it seems that Richard has photographed every sport in existence and he produces amazing photographs for every sport.

The next photographer I researched this week was Elsa Garrison. She has photographed every single major sporting event including both the summer and winter Olympics, the FIFA World Cup, and the Super Bowl. What stood out to me when viewing her portfolio besides her amazing photographs that captured great emotions is that she also included some of her studio work with athletes. I feel studio work is really important within the sport photography industry because it captures a more intimate side of the athlete off of the playing field and shows the human side of a super freak athlete.
