Alison Miller_Photohgraphers 3&4

I chose Justine Reyes because of her use of lighting for her still lifes..   In reading the article I find that her concepts are similar to the one I am striving for, but I am attracted to how she kept her composition simpler in the elements.  It has a chiaroscuro likeness to it and as she pulled inspiration from Dutch Vanitas paintings.  But with there not being too many objects, the presence of light and shadows begin to play an even more important role in the balance of the composition as well as adding that connection to features seen in paintings.

BJ and Richeille Formento’s work pay homage to the cinematography of Hitchcock as well as influenced by other artists.  I find their concept interesting and how they translated it with the movie like scenes.  The images reminded me of many of the photographers we reviewed when we had to do the cinematic assignment in Photo 2. The details of the scene, especially the lighting is impeccable.  This type of work reminds me of the say to “paint with light” and is a skill that I want to master. I have always had an attraction to this style of imagery.  I seem to be motivated constantly from this style of work, and another one of the reasons I also chose it for my blog selection.
