Edward Burtynsky: Chronicles of the extraction and destruction of the Earth and its
minerals, mines, and more.
This interview really stood out to me, because it wasn't only the topic that I could get attached to, but it was the photographs that I could also personally connect with. I learned that it wasn't about telling a story, but collecting a series that told the same story, however, each photograph still had its own background. When I finally cemented this thought down, I knew I need to find someone whose photographs had this type of definition. To be honest, it wasn't all of his photographs that had this underlying description, however, some of them truly stuck out and went past that type of explanation.
Corbett Toomsen:
This photographer really grabbed my attention, however, I was scared to truly look at his work as I thought it wasn't truly related to what I was working on. When I took a second look, I felt as if I could personally grab on to his work and understand it; it was the words "challenges the tropes of on the road photography" that truly grabbed me and made me want to look at his work to see how I could influence my own. His focus was to change the way we take photos on family trips, road trips, or anywhere we go in general and change the aspect of it all.
