Beth Teller - Week 4 Post 2

Brendan Hoffman photographed a small town in Iowa, which after having a main employer shut down left 2,000 without jobs. We've seen this type of photography many times before. However, Hoffman brings about a different way to view the photographs of these almost forgotten about towns. To him, this project was about asking "what if? What if I had been raised in such a place - a small rural town in the Midwest, instead of an East Coast suburb - with no plan or desire to leave? What would I have missed? Or gained?" Having lived in a small (well, not quite this small) town myself, I know people who have no desire to leave and they are completely happy with their choice.
